What is MetaOptima?
MetaOptima is a dermatology AI company behind DermDx, a decision-support tool that analyses dermoscopic images of skin lesions.
MetaOptima's DermDx has been validated in a retrospective study of over 1,000 lesions, showing high sensitivity for detecting cancers, and currently holds Class 1 UK medical device status (with Class IIa EU certification in progress) for use as a second-read, quality-assurance tool alongside a clinician's own diagnosis, never as a replacement for it.
Isla integration
Isla is integrated with MetaOptima to support teledermatology triage.
When a dermoscopic image is captured in Isla, it's sent securely to MetaOptima's AI, which returns a malignancy risk score alongside probability estimates across eight diagnostic categories (including melanoma, BCC, and SCC). These results appear in the patient's Isla record as an additional piece of information, not a diagnosis, to support the clinician's own review and help prioritise which cases need closer attention.
We can then create worklists in Isla for clinicians to systematically review patients based on their MetaOptima outcome.
