When you receive a blockchain deposit, you can use the txNotify API call to check if there is a travel rule message that matches the transaction details.

What is txNotify?
txNotify is an API endpoint used by the beneficiary VASP to check if an incoming blockchain deposit has a matching travel rule message.

How does txNotify work?
When txNotify is called, an initial search is performed to identify Travel Rule data associated with the exact same transaction hash and destination address. If a match is found, the result will point to the existing Travel Rule transfer. However, if there is no match, a new travel rule transfer will be created under your Waiting for Data - Incoming section, with the status of incomplete.

The diagram below illustrates the precise flow of how txNotify works, reading from right to left

If the originator VASP is identified based on the originator wallet address, Notabene will automatically send a request to them to provide the missing data. Notifications are sent in two ways: (a) via email daily for up to five days, depending on the originator's jurisdiction, and (b) through the dashboard, where the originator will be informed when the request was made and if a deadline has been set by the beneficiary VASP.

A deadline can be established through the rules engine to automatically decline a transfer if the originator VASP fails to provide the missing data in accordance with TFR requirements.

In cases where the originator VASP is not identifiable in the network, additional data may be collected from the beneficiary end user.
