What is the W-8BEN form?
Updated over a week ago

The W-8BEN form is a Certificate of Foreign Status. It is issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the United States.

This certificate is for the foreign investor to prove that he or she is not a tax resident in the United States and therefore does not have to file US income tax.

Completing the W-8BEN form is mandatory for all foreigners who do not live in the United States, but who have accounts in American banks or brokerages like Vest.

To make the account opening process as smooth as possible, when you open your investment account at Vest, we automatically fill out this form and you only need to agree to the terms.

Securities trading is offered through Northbound Securities LLC, an affiliate of Vest
