Why does it say my photo resolution is too low?

For the best print results, photos need to be high resolution so they don’t appear blurry or pixelated.

What’s happening

For the best print results, photos need to be high resolution so they don’t appear blurry or pixelated. When you upload an image, the system automatically checks its resolution and may show a “Photo Resolution Issue” warning if the image falls below our recommended standards.

This warning reflects our high print-quality standards — it doesn’t mean your photo can’t be used.

How to decide if your photo works

The easiest way to check is to download a Preview of your book:

  • If the photo looks clear and sharp in the Preview, it will generally print the same way.

  • If it looks blurry or pixelated in the Preview, you may want to replace it with a higher-resolution image.

What to do next

If you’re happy with how the photo looks in the Preview, you can safely click “GOT IT” and continue working on your book.

No further action is required.

Good to know

  • This warning doesn’t prevent printing

  • You’re always in control of whether to keep or replace the photo

  • Many customers choose to proceed without any issues

Here are tips for including high quality photos in your book!

In order for your photos to print properly in your finished book, they should be:
-In either a .png or .jpg format

-A minimum of 300 DPI (dots per inch)

-Ideally between 2.2MB (megabytes) and 7.2MB in size

Troubleshooting / FAQ:

MY PHOTO IS SIDEWAYS OR UPSIDE DOWN. HOW DO I FIX IT?
Answer: Sometimes a device will save a photo with its metadata in a different orientation; when you preview it, it looks fine, but after you've uploaded it, it's either on its side or flipped upside down entirely. In order to fix this, re-open the original image in your Preview or photo editing software, and rotate the photo 360 degrees, until it's right-side up again. Then save it as a new file, and re-upload that to your cookbook.

CAN I MAKE A COLOR PHOTO BLACK AND WHITE IN THE PROGRAM?

Answer: Yes! To make any photo in your cookbook black and white, simply click the 'Print in Black and White' button to the right-hand side of the image:
