If you started your cookbook on an older version of the Heritage Cookbook website, you may notice some differences between how your cookbook appeared previously and how it appears on our current website.
Over the years, Heritage Cookbook has undergone several major website and software updates. While your cookbook content—including your recipes, stories, and photos—was transferred to the current platform, some older formatting and organizational settings may not have carried over in exactly the same way.
The most common differences are explained below.
My recipes are no longer in alphabetical order, or my photo pages are in different spots
On some older versions of the Heritage Cookbook website, recipes within each section were automatically arranged alphabetically.
On the current website, recipes appear in the order they are entered or added to a section. You can change this order at any time by moving recipes, text pages, and photo pages within the Organize tab of your cookbook editor. The Organize tab is a newer feature that gives creators more flexibility when it comes to their book's final layout.
You can also manually arrange your recipes alphabetically if you would like to recreate the order of your previous cookbook.
My cookbook's index is missing or shorter than it was before
Some cookbooks created on older versions of our website may have a shorter index than they previously had, or the index may no longer appear in the cookbook.
In many cases, the index can be restored through your cookbook's current settings.
My book only had a Dedication or Introduction before, but now there's the option to have both
On the old website, you could choose to have either a Dedication or an Introduction in your book. On the new website, you can have both.
Typically, Dedications tend to be shorter (one or two paragraphs), while Introductions can include photos and span multiple pages.
My book's Dedication is now centre-aligned instead of left-aligned
On the new website, Dedication text is centre-aligned by default. This setting cannot be changed. Introduction text, however, is left-aligned.
I need help with other formatting differences
If your cookbook looks different from a previous printed version and the issue is not covered above, please contact our support team with as much information as possible about what has changed.
If you have a copy of your previously printed cookbook, it can be helpful to include photos of the pages you are comparing. Our team can review the issue and help determine what options are available on the current platform.
Please keep in mind that, because older cookbooks were created using previous versions of our software, it may not always be possible to recreate every aspect of the original formatting exactly. However, we're happy to help you understand the available options for your book.
