To support in the response to Covid19, we have introduced video consultations to Hero. 

To offer video consultations:

  1. Change the appropriate appointment type to video (or setup a new appointment type)

  • To edit an existing appointment type: Settings, Appointment setup,  Options – Edit appointment, Set ‘Video’ to Yes

  • To create a new appointment type: Settings, Appointment setup, Add new type (button in top right)

2. For all appointments booked from that point onwards:

  • Patients will receive an email link to join the consultation 10 minutes before it starts, or can join from within their Hero account

  • Practitioner can join the consultation from within Hero by opening the appointment, clicking ‘Video’ on the top toolbar, and then ‘Join video’. 

  • Additional invitations can be issued from here should the practitioner wish to join by phone.

When patients book an appointment, the appointment is denoted as delivered by video.

We are using ‘Whereby’ for our video appointments, and follows a secure NHS standard encryption process – further details on information governance are available here:

There is no setup fee, and a £1 per consultation charge levied on us by Whereby.
