How To Understand Calories and Macronutrients Trends

How to read your weekly calorie intake and macronutrient split in Hexis Trends.

Want to see how your calorie intake and macro split have looked over the week? The Calories and Macros view in Hexis Trends shows both your total daily energy intake and how that intake is split between carbohydrates, protein, and fat.

Accessing the Calories and Macros view

Go to the Trends page, open the drop-down menu, and select Calories and Macros. This brings up your weekly nutrition trends dashboard.

Understanding the stacked bar chart

The main display is a stacked bar chart representing your daily macronutrient intake across the week. Each bar shows total daily calories, with coloured segments indicating how those calories are distributed.

Carbohydrates are shown in blue at the top of the bar, protein in purple in the middle, and fat in orange at the bottom. The overall height of each bar reflects total calorie intake for that day.

Viewing daily intake details

Tap any bar in the stacked chart to see detailed information for that day. A tooltip appears showing the date along with your exact calorie and macronutrient values.

Comparing planned versus logged calories

Below the stacked chart is the calories comparison section. Grey bars represent your planned calorie intake based on your training schedule and goals, while white bars show your actual logged intake.

This comparison makes it easy to see where intake matches recommendations and where you may be over- or under-fuelling.

Analysing individual macronutrients

Each macronutrient section beneath the calorie comparison can be tapped to open a detailed line graph for carbohydrates, protein, or fat. These graphs display planned intake as grey dots connected by lines, and logged intake as coloured dots.

This format makes it easy to spot patterns, trends, and consistency in how closely you're adhering to each macronutrient target over time.

Expanding charts for detailed analysis

For a clearer view of any chart, tap the right chevron and rotate your device into landscape mode. This expands the display, making it easier to analyse trends and inspect individual data points.

Using Trends to improve nutrition adherence

Reviewing calories and macros together helps you understand not just how much you're eating, but how well your intake aligns with your planned nutrition strategy - supporting better day-to-day adjustments and more consistent long-term adherence.
