When a new lesson is created, there are a few things that need to be done before an estimate will be supplied. Since the estimates are based on previous completion of the lesson in question, the lesson will need to be assigned and completed first. The estimates will then be given after the lesson has been completed twice, and the estimate will be the average of the time it takes to complete the lesson. Before a lesson has been completed a sufficient number of times, the place holder value "Calculating..." will be displayed.

Courses take these lesson time estimates and add them together to give an estimation on how long it will take to complete the entire course.
