What can I do to ensure my Camera and Video are working?

Help to troubleshoot any camera or video issues that you may be having while recording a video

Camera issues

  • "My candidate can’t see me/I can’t see them"

  • "We can’t see each other"

  • "It just says; ‘waiting for candidate/recruiter’ and nothing happens"

  • "My computer is using the wrong camera"

Potential Solutions

  • Make sure that the camera is plugged in and Hinterview has permission to access the hardware (See Allow Permissions article)

  • Confirm that the camera is working. There are lots of webcam test sites if you type it into Google

  • Close other applications which may be using your camera like Skype, FaceTime or other open web pages

  • You have the incorrect Camera selected (See "Change Selected Camera" below)

  • Ensure that the camera is installed properly and not disabled in Device Manager

  • Shut everything down, restart the browser and start a new video session

Note: after making any changes please use the "Reconnect" button at the bottom on the video window.

Change Selected Camera

Google Chrome

Click the video camera icon at the right of your address bar in the top right of your screen, select Manage.

Click Camera and then from the drop down menu choose the right camera.

Refresh the Hinterview web page and start a new video session if required.

Firefox

Click the video camera icon at the left of your address bar in the top left of your screen.

From the drop down menu choose the right camera.

Still struggling?

If you are still struggling to connect then it may be best to try and connect using another device. The website works from PC, Mac and Android through Chrome or Firefox.
