The DISC model is a powerful tool for understanding behavior and personality in the workplace. Categorizing individuals into four key dimensions — Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness — provides valuable insights into how people approach work, solve problems, and collaborate with others. The DISC model helps employers identify candidates whose natural tendencies align with the demands of a specific role or organizational culture, which helps ensure a better job fit and improved team dynamics and productivity.

Dominance

Dominance reflects confidence and the tendency to take charge. Those high in dominance are assertive, competitive, and driven. They value efficiency and are energized by challenges. They often take a direct approach to solving problems.

Influence

Influence reflects communication, relationships, and persuasion. People with high influence are outgoing, enthusiastic, and optimistic. They enjoy social interactions and collaboration, and excel at inspiring and motivating others.

Steadiness

Steadiness reflects consistency, reliability, and empathy. Those high in steadiness are patient, loyal, and supportive. They prefer stable environments and are known for being great listeners and dependable team members.

Conscientiousness

Conscientiousness reflects precision and analytical thinking. People with high conscientiousness are detail-oriented and organized. They value rules, standards, and doing things the “right way”.

DISC Personality Styles

The DISC model identifies 12 distinct personality styles, each representing a unique combination of the four primary traits: (D)ominance, (I)nfluence, (S)teadiness, and (C)onscientiousness.

  1. D (Dominance)

Assertive, results-driven, and competitive. Ideal for roles requiring leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving.

  1. Di (Dominance and Influence)

Energetic, persuasive, and natural leaders. Ideal for roles requiring both a focus on results and relationship-building.

  1. i (Influence)

Outgoing, enthusiastic, and people-oriented. Ideal for roles involving teamwork, collaboration, and motivating others.

  1. iS (Influence and Steadiness)

Empathetic and sociable. Ideal for customer service and team-focused roles.

  1. S (Steadiness)

Loyal, dependable, and calm under pressure. Ideal for roles requiring patience and reliability.

  1. SC (Steadiness and Conscientiousness)

Methodical and thoughtful. Ideal for roles requiring precision and problem-solving.

  1. C (Conscientiousness)

Analytical and detail-oriented. Ideal for roles requiring accuracy and high standards, such as finance or engineering.

  1. CD (Conscientiousness and Dominance)

Strategic, results-oriented, and analytical. Ideal for leadership roles that require planning and precision.

  1. DC (Dominance and Conscientiousness)

Decisive, assertive, and highly efficient. Ideal for roles demanding fast-paced decision-making, such as executive leaders.

  1. CS (Conscientiousness and Steadiness)

Reliable and precise. Ideal for roles requiring attention to detail and a steady pace.

  1. Si (Steadiness and Influence)

Warm and supportive. Skilled at creating strong relationships and maintaining team cohesion. Ideal for collaborative environments

  1. iS (Influence and Steadiness)

Energetic, reliable, and strong communication skills. Ideal for roles requiring both interpersonal and organizational skills.
