In some cases you may need to enter the contact details of a reference on behalf of a candidate.

Step 1 - Invite the candidate

If a candidate has already been invited to participate in the reference check process, skip down to step 2 below.

  1. Locate the job that you wish to invite the candidate to using the Jobs button in the left navigation bar in HiPeople:

  2. Click into the relevant job:

3. Click the "+ Invite candidates" button and then "Invite via link" button to clip the link using the "Copy to clipboard" button:

4. Open the clipped link in a new tab and go through the steps to invite the candidate by adding their First name, Last name and Email. It's best to use the candidate's real email however you can use your own if you don't want them to receive email updates about the process:

4. Once the candidate is invited, you can continue with the second section of this process below:

Step 2 - Invite the references

To invite a reference on behalf of a candidate:

  1. Locate the candidate you wish to manually invite references for from the Candidates page by using the search bar and selecting the candidate from the list:

  2. Select the 3-dot option button in the top right corner of the screen and select the Invite a reference option:

  3. A pop up box will appear asking you to enter the reference's email address/ full name/ relationship with candidate/ company they worked at/ link to LinkedIn profile/ phone number/ years worked together.
Enter as much information as you have and click the green Add button to proceed.

  4. A green confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the screen:

  5. HiPeople will now begin contacting the referee to collect the reference and will remind them on a daily basis until they complete the reference survey.
