Using Custom Assessment Questions

Details on how to use Custom Text, Multiple Choice and Video questions in Assessments

In addition to HiPeople's 400+ test library (which is rapidly expanding), if you want or need to ask something of candidates beyond this, you can do so using Text, Multiple Choice or Video custom questions!

When creating or editing and Assessment, you can add Custom Questions using the options below:

Custom Text Questions

Need to ask candidates something very specific to the role you're hiring for or want them to write an essay response to a prompt? Easy! With Custom Test questions you can achieve this quickly.

You can easily add a Free Text question to your assessment by following these simple steps:

  • When creating or editing an assessment template, use the Add video question button to create a video question:

  • Type the question you want your candidate to answer via Free Text anser and use the Required toggle if you want to make it a required question and click +Add question to add it to the assessment:

Custom Multiple Choice/Multiple Selection Questions

If you have questions that can have multiple answers or want to see if the candidate picks a specific answer from a selection of answer options, using the Selection/Multiple Choice Questions option is a perfect fit.

You can easily add a Selection/Multiple Choice question to your assessment by following these simple steps:

  • When creating or editing an assessment template, use the Add selection question button to create a video question:

  • Type the question you want your candidate to answer and use the "Click to add answer option" button to enter the answer options.

    • Like with other custom questions, you can make the question mandatory using the Required toggle and you can also allow for multiple answers using the Allow user to select multiple answers toggle.

    • Finally, click the +Add question button to add it to the assessment:

Custom Video Questions

Unlock the Potential of Video Questions in Your Hiring Process - Video questions can be a powerful tool for the hiring process. Not only do they help you get to know candidates better, but they also give you a chance to assess their skills and abilities in a more direct way.

Plus, they save time and resources, as they can be answered remotely, making them an excellent option for both employers and candidates.

You can easily add a video question to your assessment by following these simple steps:

  • When creating or editing an assessment template, use the Add video question button to create a video question:

  • Type the question you want your candidate to answer via video recording and use the Required toggle if you want to make it a required question and click +Add question to add it to the assessment:

Feel free to indicate as many details as needed for your candidate to get the most clarity. We will later display this input to the candidate while giving them an interface to record a video.
