What is HiPeople?

HiPeople is a Reference Checking platform that 2,000+ companies globally use to streamline their Reference Check process. Our platform is entirely asynchronous and allows candidates/referees and the hiring team to quickly and safely complete the Reference Check process.

Why have I been invited as a Referee?

In the invitation email you've received, you can see who has invited you to complete a reference check and also the job and company they're applying with.

You've likely been invited by the Candidate if you've worked together in the past (either as peers or as manager/direct report) or as an academic reference.

What do I need to do?

In the invitation email you received, you can open the Reference Check portal by clicking the "Support Candidate Name" button. This will take you to our website where you will go through questions about your relationship with the candidate and questions about them as a colleague/employee. Once you've completed all of the questions, you just need to submit the reference check and we'll handle the rest!

Is a LinkedIn account required

Verifying your identity via LinkedIn is preferred and you will be prompted to do so at the start of the Reference Check process. This adds another layer of integrity to the platform and the digital Reference Checking process.

However, we understand that in some industries, LinkedIn is not used and some Referees might not have a LinkedIn account, so you're able to skip that step using the "Continue without verifying" button:

Can the Candidate see my responses?

HiPeople does not share the responses with the Candidate and it is general practice for the company hiring the candidate not to share the responses/feedback either.

However, based on the jurisdiction the candidate is based in, they can make a request to the hiring company for their recruitment data (including the Reference Check responses).

I made a mistake/ want to change my response - what can I do?

If you've already submitted your responses, unfortunately there is no way to go back and edit/undo this.

If you haven't yet submitted your responses, if you open the invitation link in a different browser or device, you'll be able to start the Reference Check process from the start.
