Creating, modifying, or deleting a role or circle is one of the many things you can do when making governance changes. This process can be done whether in a meeting or outside of a meeting.

Create a role or circle within a meeting

  • Click on New role
  • Fill in the form and add any combination of Purpose, Domains, and Accountabilities as desired
  • If you need a Circle, check the Make this role a circle
  • Optionally, if making a Circle, you will be able to choose roles to move in the new circle during this operation.
  • If you need to create additional Roles/Circles, click on Add proposal and repeat. You can add as many proposal as you want.
  • Following your decision-making process, click on Validate to save the proposal.

When closing the meeting, this role or circle will be immediately visible and available in your organization and can be edited via future governance.

Create a role or circle outside a meeting

Asynchronous or consent decision making: follow the steps in this article to add and process tensions. 

Open mode allows any member of the circle to edit it.

  • You can add a circle or a role by clicking on the 3 dots on the top right of the Role or Circle description. Select Add a role.
  • Fill the in the form with desired information. If you want to create a circle click on Make this role a Circle. Click on Validate if you want your evolution to be effective immediately or Save as Tension. You will then be able to discuss it in a meeting.

Modify a role or circle in a meeting

  • Select the role in the dropdown menu which you wish to modify
  • Edit the desired information
  • Validate the proposal

Modify a role or a circle outside a meeting

  • In Open Mode, you can edit a circle or a role by clicking on the 3 dots on the top right of the Role or Circle description. Select Edit role if you are on the Role card or Add evolution(s) on the circle if you are on the Circle card.
  • Fill the in the form with desired information. If you want to create a circle click on Make this role a Circle. Click on Validate if you want your evolution to be effective immediately or Save as Tension. You will then be able to discuss it in a meeting.

Delete a role or circle in a meeting

  • Click on Add Proposal, and Role or Circle. Select the role in the dropdown menu which you wish to delete
  • Then check Delete role or Delete circle
  • Validate the proposal

Note: When you delete a circle, all contents, including roles, sub-circles, checklists, metrics, publications, policies, projects, actions, and OKR's will be deleted. There is no way to undo this change, so we recommend careful consideration prior to deleting a circle.

Delete a role or circle outside a meeting

  • In Open Mode, you can delete a circle or a role by clicking on the 3 dots on the top right of the Role or Circle description. Select Delete role if you are on the Role card or Delete circle if you are on the Circle card.
  • Type the name of the circle or role you want to delete. Click on Open a Tension. Select Validate if you want your evolution to be effective immediately or Save as Tension. You will then be able to discuss it in a meeting.
