The number of glass panes in a window affects how much heat your home loses (and how much energy you spend heating and cooling).
Single-pane: one layer of glass. Common in older homes. Lowest insulation.
Double-pane: two layers of glass with a gap between them, often filled with argon gas. Much better insulation than single-pane.
Triple-pane: three layers of glass. The best insulation, common in newer or high-efficiency homes.
The flashlight trick: shine a flashlight at the window at an angle. Count the reflections you see. That's how many panes your window has.
If you can't tell, take a thermal photo of the window during your scan. Our team can usually figure it out from the image.
