The bulbs in your home make a real difference in your energy bill. Here's the short version:

  • LED bulbs use about 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs to produce the same amount of light.

  • A 12W LED produces roughly the same light as a 50W incandescent.

  • LEDs typically last 10-25× longer than incandescent bulbs.

  • LEDs produce less heat, which also reduces your cooling load in summer.

How they work: incandescent bulbs heat a wire filament until it glows. Most of the energy turns into heat, not light. LEDs use a semiconductor that emits light directly when electricity flows through it, which is much more efficient.

Switching from incandescent to LED is one of the highest-ROI upgrades you can make. Your scan report will flag any incandescent bulbs we spot.
