Website: Create a Sample Inspection Report

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Creating a sample report is a great way to showcase your work and let your customers know what they can expect to see when their report is complete. Making a report on your Inspector Dashboard public makes it easy to get a sample report on your website.

Create a Sample Report from Desktop Report Writer

  1. In the Desktop Report Writer, find a report you're especially proud of or create a new one you like.

  2. If you are using a pre-existing report, click Open, find the report in this list, and highlight the report, but do not open it.

  3. Click the gear icon on the bottom right corner of this box and select Create a Copy of the Selected Report.

  4. Select the report right above the original report in the list and click on Open.

  5. Make changes that need to be made:

    1. If you are using a real report, change all identifying information in the Customer and Report Info tabs. (Use a fake customer name, property address, etc.)

    2. Give the report a new Report ID number and a fake address in the Report Info tab.

If the report you use to create a sample report was created from a Dashboard appointment, it may be uploaded back into the original customer's Dashboard folder. You will need to have HomeGauge version 5.2.13 or higher to Unlink Appointment ID.

    3. We also recommend changing the cover page photo to a generic one in the General Info tab.

  6. Once this is done, upload the report to the Dashboard. To learn how to do this, visit the Report Writer: Upload, Print, or Save a Report article.

  7. Log in to the Dashboard by clicking the link to take you to the All Reports page in the Publish Successful pop-up.

Making the Report Public

  1. The report should be at the top of your list of reports. Click the Viewing tab above the Inspection Report.

  2. Select the option Make Public (viewable w/o password). On the next screen, you copy the public URL by clicking the Copy URL button.

  3. Click Yes at the bottom of the screen. You have now made this report public.

The report can now be used on your webpage for your clients to see a sample report. You can go directly to your website and add it or email it to the individual who manages your website. If you need this URL again, go to your HG Dashboard reports list, view the document, and copy the URL in the address bar at the top of the screen.
