Homeroom gives organizers two ways to enroll a student directly into an activity: Add Existing Participant and Invite New Participant. Both can be used at any time, and both let you apply a discount to the family if needed. The difference is whether the family is charged automatically or asked to accept and check out themselves.
Where to find these options
Go to the activity, then open the Enrollment tab. In the enrolled table you will see the Add Participant option. From there you can choose either method.
Add Existing Participant
Use this when the family already has a payment method on file. Homeroom will charge the payment method on file and automatically enroll the student — no action is required from the family. The enrollment is complete as soon as you add them.
Invite New Participant
Use this to reserve a spot for a family that needs to complete checkout themselves. Homeroom holds the spot for the family and sends them an email invitation. The family will need to open their invite, accept it, and complete checkout before the enrollment is finalized.
Applying a discount
With either method, you can apply a discount to the family during the process if needed.
Quick comparison
Add Existing Participant: Charges the payment method on file and enrolls the student automatically. No action needed from the family.
Invite New Participant: Holds the spot and emails the family an invite. The family must accept and check out to complete enrollment.
Both: Available at any time, and both support applying a discount to the family.
