Step 1: Log In and Review Your Schedule
When an individual has been assigned to an activity, they gain access to an instructor account. After logging into the instructor account, the first screen displayed is the schedule view. This schedule shows all activities the instructor is assigned to for the given week.
Instructors can review their weekly schedule to see all upcoming classes and sessions.
Step 2: Open Activity Details from the Schedule
From the schedule view, instructors can click on an activity title to open the detailed activity information page.
Step 3: Use the Activities List on the Left Panel
On the left-hand side, there is an Activities section.
This section displays a list view of all activities assigned to the instructor. Instructors can click on any activity title in this list to open that activity’s details.
Step 4: View Enrolled Students and Student Profiles
Within the activity details, instructors can view all students enrolled in that class. If they click on a student’s name, they are taken to that student’s profile to view any information relevant to that student (such as contact details or notes).
This profile view provides detailed information pertinent to the student.
Step 5: Message Individual Students or Groups
If instructors need to message any of the students in the class, they can select one student or a group of students from the roster.
After selecting, they click Message in the action toolbar to initiate a message to the families of the selected students.
Step 6: Access the Roster from Attendance Links
Instructors do not necessarily need to log into Homeroom directly, as attendance links will be sent to them before each class period. They will receive an email or text message with a link to their roster. When they open this link, it brings them to the roster page where they again see the list of students in the class. If they need to view student details from this page, they can click on a student’s name to open the student detail view.
This allows them to review details for those students as needed.
Step 7: Check Students In and Mark Absences
From the roster page, instructors manage attendance using the check-in circles next to each student. By clicking the circle once, the student is checked into the class.
If they click the circle again, the student is marked absent.
If they need to reset the status and start over, they click the circle a third time to clear it.
Step 8: Adjust Check-In Times
If an instructor checks a student in and notices that the recorded check-in time is not correct, they can click the time field to edit and adjust the time the student was checked in.
They can correct the time entry as needed.
After clicking to edit, they adjust the time to the accurate check-in time.
This ensures the system reflects the correct time the student was checked in.
Step 9: Check Students Out
Next to the check-in section, there is a Check Out section used to record when students leave class.
To check a student out, the instructor clicks the corresponding check-out circle once, which records the check-out.
If they click the check-out circle again, it clears the recorded check-out (rather than marking an absence).
Step 10: Sort and Filter the Roster
If instructors need to adjust how the roster is displayed, they can use the sorting and filtering options on the page. For example, they can sort by grade in ascending or descending order, or remove a specific grade from view (such as hiding all third-graders) to narrow down the roster.
If they choose to remove a grade level like third grade, the roster will filter out those students.
Additionally, there is a Filter by section where instructors can add filters as needed and change sorting preferences for more customized roster views.
They can continue to adjust filters and sorting options as required.
