How Homeroom is structured

The three levels of Homeroom (site, season, activity), who the provider is, and what you set where.

Everything in Homeroom sits at one of three levels: your site, the seasons inside it, and the activities inside each season. Set something at the site and it applies to everything below.

Change it on one season or one activity when that one is different.

The three levels

Site is a place where programming happens. If you are a school, that is your campus. A provider can run activities at many sites, so a site is a place, not a company. The site holds what is true of that place: its name and logo, payment setup, policies, team and permissions.

Season is a block of time with programming in it: Fall enrichment 26-27, Extended day 26-27, Summer camp 2027. It holds the registration window, the season dates, your registration page, and every activity in that block. A site can run several seasons at once, and each one can behave differently.

Activity is what a family actually registers for. One chess class. One week of camp. Aftercare on Tuesdays. It carries what families see and what gets charged: dates, times, grades, capacity, price, instructor, add-ons.

  • Provider is who runs the activity. Usually your own staff. Sometimes an outside vendor working at your site for that one activity. You pick it per activity, and Homeroom pays an outside provider their share automatically.

Registrations belong to the activity. The roster, attendance, and charges are all built from them.

What you set where

Automated messages and registration questions can be set at any level.

Discounts are the exception. They are set at the site or season level only, never on an individual activity. Instead you scope a discount when you create it, to certain activity types, activities, or participants.
