Organizer: Filtering and Sorting Attendance

How to sort, filter, and choose columns on the attendance list, and how to save those setups as reusable team or private views.

Attendance lists in Homeroom work like a spreadsheet. You can sort them, filter them, hide columns you don't use, and save the result so you never have to set it up twice.

This works the same way in two places:

  • Your school-wide attendance page, which shows every participant on site for a given day across all activities.

  • An individual activity's attendance roster.

Sorting

Open the menu in any column header and choose Sort ascending or Sort descending.

Two things to know:

  • Choosing the sort option that's already active clears the sort and returns the list to its normal order.

  • Only one column can be sorted at a time. Sorting by a second column replaces the first sort rather than adding to it.

Filtering

In the same column header menu, look for the Filter by section and pick the values you want to keep. For example, filter the Grade column to 3rd and 4th to see only those participants.

A funnel icon appears on any column that currently has a filter on it, so you can always tell at a glance why the list looks shorter than you expect.

💡 Tip: If a participant you expect to see is missing from attendance, a leftover filter is the most common reason. Check for funnel icons across your column headers before assuming something is wrong with the enrollment.

Filtering by group

If you have assigned participants to groups, a Groups dropdown appears above the attendance list. Select one or more groups to narrow the list to just those participants.

This dropdown only appears once at least one group exists.

Choosing which columns you see

Click on the view name and select Choose columns... to show or hide columns. Attendance carries a lot of available columns — dismissal, room, classroom, other activities the participant is attending, medical notes, balance — and most schools only want a handful visible day to day.

Saving your setup as a view

Once you have the sorting, filters, and columns the way you want them, save it so you can come back to it in one click. From the view menu:

Save view as...

Creates a new saved view. You'll be asked for a View name and who can see it.

Save view

Updates the view you currently have open.

Reset view

Clears your sorting and filters and returns to the default layout. Use this when a list looks wrong and you're not sure why.

Delete view

Removes a saved view. You'll be asked to confirm.

Team views vs. private views

When you save a view, Who can see this view? offers two options:

  • Team view — everyone on your team sees it in the view list. Use this for the setups your whole front desk relies on.

  • Private view — only you see it.

You can change your mind later. With a saved view open, use Make private to me or Set as team view.

Saving a team view requires permission to manage team views. If you only see the option to save a private view, that's why — ask an admin at your school if you need a view shared with everyone.

The unmodified starting layout is always available as Default view.
