Sending PDFs and images as email attachments

How to attach files and pictures to HoneyBook communications

Updated over a week ago

If you have any PDF files or images that you like sending off to your clients, you can send those through HoneyBook as well! It's easy to attach additional files to any email you send, whether you're attaching to an email template you send with individual emails, automations, or bulk or batch emails; or, through on-the-fly emails you create in a project's activity feed and beyond!

You can send files in PDF, JPG, PNG, or DOC formats, and once your file is sent, we'll also store it in your Library so you can easily access it again right through HoneyBook.

You'll recognize the paper clip icon—the universal attaching symbol—wherever you create or send your emails. And, of course, you can also send attachments via your HoneyBook mobile app!

The maximum supported size for email attachments is 8 MB.

Adding attachments through a project's activity feed

Then, click the paper clip icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the message. From there, you can either choose an email or file that already exists in your HoneyBook Library, or use the Upload tab to upload something new.

Or, you can simply select an an email template you've already created and saved that includes attachments!

Either way, attachments will appear at the bottom of the email composer, and you can always delete an attachment by clicking the X icon.

Follow the steps to create and send a smart file.

When you've reached the email screen, click the paper clip icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the email composer. From there, you can either choose an email or file that already exists in your HoneyBook Library, or use the Upload tab to upload something new!

Adding attachments to email templates

Follow the steps to create your email template (or, just find an existing template you want to add an attachment to).

Then, click the paper clip icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the email composer. From there, you can either choose an email or file that already exists in your HoneyBook Library, or use the Upload tab to upload something new!

All changes will save automatically, so you're good to go whenever you're finished with your edits—and you can now use your template whenever you're sending an email through a project's activity feed, creating an automation, or setting up another automated email!

If you select an email template with attachments when sending an individual email in the future, you'll have the option to delete the pre-selected attachments (or add new ones!) before sending. If you've selected an email template with attachments for automations (and chosen not to approve before sending) or other automated emails, though, those emails will go out automatically with the attachments.

Including email attachments in automations

Once you've created email templates with attachments, it's easy to include those in your automations!

First, follow the steps to create an automation. Select Send Email for at least one (or many!) of the actions in the automation, and make sure to select an email template that you've added attachments to. An email template that has attachments will be noted with a paper clip icon.

If you want to make sure you can review an automation's email (or any other element of an automation) before it's sent, toggle Require Approval Before Sending ON.

This will create a task within the relevant project workspace on the day the email is set to send. Then, you'll have the option to review the email—and delete any of the template's attachments, if you need—before it's sent.

Including email attachments in other automated actions

Similar to automations, once you've created email templates with attachments, it's easy to include those in other automated actions!

Follow the steps to set up your automated email of choice, and simply select an email template that includes an email attachment. We'll denote which templates have attachments with the paper clip icon.

Remember, you won't have a chance to review these automated emails before they're sent, so make sure the email template and any associated attachments are set up the way you want.

Including attachments in a bulk email

Follow the steps to create a bulk email.

Then, either select an an email template you've already created and saved that includes attachments; or, if you're starting an email from scratch, click the paper clip icon in the tool bar at the bottom of the email composer. From there, you can either choose an email or file that already exists in your HoneyBook Library, or use the Upload tab to upload something new!

Either way, attachments will appear at the bottom of the email composer, and you can always delete an attachment by clicking the X icon.

Including attachments in a batch email

Follow the steps to create a batch email.
