Set up custom project types

Find out what project types are, how to use project types, and how to add, edit, or remove them.

Updated over a week ago

Project types are how you define jobs or clients in HoneyBook. They help categorize the types of services you offer or the types of jobs you take on. You can customize project types at any time, adding up to 17 custom options, and setting your default project types.

Add project types

  1. From the top navigation menu, select your profile photo > Company settings

  2. Select the Preferences tab

  3. In the Data management section, select Edit next to Project types

  4. From here:

    1. Add a new project type by selecting + Add project type > enter the new project type name

    2. Edit a project type's name by hovering over it > select the pencil icon > enter the new project type name

    3. Make a different project type your default by hovering over it > select Set as default

    4. Delete a project type by hovering over it > select the trash can icon

  5. Select Save

From here, you'll see your updated list of project types when adding a new project or assigning contact form automations.

πŸ“š Tip

You can change a project's type from the Details tab of the project.

How to organize your projects

Projects are added to HoneyBook in two ways: either through a client filling out your contact form or by manually adding a new project. When manually adding a project, you can choose the project type from a drop-down list.

If your client fills out the contact form, they can also select their project type from a drop-down list. This will label the project in HoneyBook. To enable this, select the "Project Type" question from the "Suggested" questions in your contact form.

Once you have projects in HoneyBook, you can filter your pipeline stages to view projects by type in alphabetical order. This helps you prioritize and navigate similar jobs more easily, and streamline your pipeline. Simplified organization!

Project types for your automations

Using project types can provide value in automating client flows. Automations enable you to send pre-determined sequences of emails and files to clients. By segmenting automations based on project type, you can create unique sequences of steps that are customized for specific project types.
