How to optimize the referral program experience for you and the people you refer.

Updated this week

Here are some tips for getting the most out of HoneyBook's referral program.

Best places to share your link

  • 1-to-1 emails, texts, and messages: If you know someone well, we find sending your unique referral link to them directly is very successful.

  • Instagram Stories: If you're active on Instagram, using the Stories feature gives a life of its own to talk about HoneyBook. If you have the "Swipe Up" feature, be sure to attach your referral link there. If not, be sure to put your link in your bio.

  • Linktree: If you're a Linktree user, adding your referral link is an easy and evergreen way to surface your link to friends and followers.

  • Facebook groups: As long as it complies with the group's policies, sharing your link with your small communities on Facebook has proven successful. Be sure to add some context to why you're sharing.

  • Your website: If your website visitors are often other independents who could use HoneyBook, this is another evergreen way to put your link to work.

What to say when you share

The most important thing to remember: share your personal experience with HoneyBook.

This could mean sharing:

  • Your favorite feature

  • What your life looks like after joining

  • How your clients have reacted

  • How you've up-leveled your professionalism

  • How you've saved time for the things you love most

  • Why you decided on HoneyBook in the first place

Remember, you have referral resources—logos, social media templates, and email banners—available to download and share, too.

A few more best practices

Contact someone when they use your link to start a free trial

We’ve found that new users value hearing from current members as they evaluate HoneyBook.

As soon as someone uses your link to sign up for a free trial, we'll send you an email to let you know.

Check out HoneyBook's Referral Resources

Download logos, social media templates, and email banners provided just for you, to share in your referral communications and add visual flair.

Disclose that you are sharing your affiliate link on relevant blog posts

For example: Disclosure: My policy is to only share products and resources that have brought value to me and/or I believe will bring value to my audience. Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, and I will earn a commission if you make a purchase using them.

Follow up and be diligent

Life might get crazy and information can get misplaced. Following up with your referrals will make sure they get what they need to help make their decision, and ensure that you don't miss out on your referral payout.

In general, we recommend using your referral dashboard to track who you've shared your link with and who has purchased membership via your referral link. This is a great place to track who might need a little extra nudge.
