One of HONK's available roadside assistance services includes Battery Installation Services.

To add this service as a roadside service you would like to receive HONK job alerts for, you'll need to switch the toggle button "ON" for Battery Installation, Battery Test, and Jump Start from within your HONK Partner Account under the types of services you offer.

Once the toggle button is green, you are confirming each of your tow operators is trained on how to remove and install vehicle batteries and fully equipped to perform battery tests and jump starts.

HOW IT WORKS IN THE HONK PARTNER APP

Prior to dispatch, the HONK Partner App will indicate the exact vehicle battery type the customer may need. This gives you the ability to pull a new battery from your existing inventory and have it available if the customer chooses to replace the battery during the active job.

  • You will see a HONK job alert for "Battery Test & Jump Start". All pertinent job details are provided, in addition, you will be asked if your provider (your dispatched driver) will have the required vehicle battery available for an optional battery installation if needed.

  • Click on "I can install a new battery" if your provider does happen to have that specific battery to accept this job. If the customer chooses the optional battery installation you will be reimbursed for the battery installation fee and the pre-approved cost of the battery, as noted in the HONK Partner App.

  • If your provider does not have a battery available, simply click on "No battery to install".

  • After arriving on-scene for a battery test & jump-start job, the first thing you should perform is a diagnostic test of the customer's vehicle battery. If the battery test and jump-start are successful, your work is done and you can complete the job and get paid per the payout rate listed for that service.

  • After running a diagnostic test of the customer's vehicle battery fails, you have the option with the customer’s approval only, to install a new high-quality battery right on the spot. You are reimbursed for the pre-determined amount for the battery as noted in the job offer, plus the payout rate listed in the HONK App. Prior to dispatch, the HONK App displayed the payout price for the service itself as well as for the cost of the battery, to ensure transparency and indicate you are properly being paid.

    • All you need to do is update the job status in the HONK Partner App. Click on MANAGE JOB, then click on PROBLEM directly from the active job.

    • Then click on "Battery Test Failed"

    • You will then need to confirm if the customer wants to replace the battery or have their vehicle towed - select Yes or No to those questions displayed via the HONK Partner App.

  • If the customer chooses to replace the battery, the HONK Partner App will connect with the customer directly to confirm the payment transaction, sending the customer a text link to complete the transaction. You will be prompted to standby as this may take a few minutes to complete. No need to give the customer a price, as all of this is completed by HONK.

    • Once the customer approves the battery replacement transaction you will be prompted in the HONK Partner App to continue with installing the new vehicle battery.

    • After installing the new battery, ensure the vehicle starts, and your work is done. Complete the job the get paid.

  • If the customer chooses to have the vehicle towed instead, you will be prompted with the new service rate for that active job.

As always, thank you for being a HONK Partner! If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to our support team here.
