To help automate Metric updates, you can map data from an Excel Online spreadsheet into Metrics that are defined in Hoopla. As the data in the spreadsheet changes, Hoopla will update Metric data accordingly.

How to Set Up Mappings from Excel to Hoopla

Under Configure go to Integrations and click on Excel Online Integrations.

Click Add and search for the Excel Workbook to which you want to export Hoopla Metric data. Click on the workbook and click Next.

Important: In each tab that you want to map, you must have a column either called “Email” that contains your Hoopla users’ email addresses, "Team Name" (team data) that matches your Hoopla team names, OR "Generic Identifier".

Start mapping your columns to Hoopla Metrics from the bottom section of the mapping page.

  1. Select the the Sheet Tab.

  2. Select the column name of the metric you are mapping.

  3. Either select an existing Metric or create a new Metric name. If you are bringing in a new metric, you will need to select whether it is a new Metric Number, Currency, or Percent.

  4. For a new Metric, give it a name. Make sure you use a name that is very specific to what you are bringing in. For example, if you are mapping to a monthly revenue amount, you may want to name it "MTD Revenue".

  5. Click the + icon to add that metric. You can continue to do steps 1-4 to add additional metrics.

  6. Schedule how frequently Hoopla should sync with this Excel spreadsheet.

  7. Click OK, then Save.

Format your Excel Spreadsheet

For bringing in Player metrics, your Excel spreadsheet must contain summarized information, grouped by user email addresses. There must be a column called “Email”, and the remaining columns should contain Metric values for each player.

For bringing in Team metrics, your Google sheet must contain summarized information, grouped by the Team name in Hoopla. There must be a column called "Team Name" and the remaining columns should contain Metric values for each team.

What are the Rules for Mappings?

  1. Hoopla will only update data for rows that contain a valid email address for users or team names for Teams who exist in Hoopla. In other words, if Hoopla doesn’t recognize the email, team name, or generic identifier, the row is ignored.

  2. Within a given Sheet Tab, you cannot map multiple columns to one Metric.

  3. You can map multiple columns to one Metric as long as those columns come from different Sheet Tabs.

  4. You can map one column to multiple Metrics.

  5. You cannot have more than one column with the same name on the same tab.

  6. You cannot create "loops" by mapping the same Metric and column in both directions. In other words, you cannot map Metric 1 → Column A, then map Column A → Metric 1.
