Hoot integrates with Apple Health to bring your activity and nutrition data together in one place. Here's how to set it up.
Getting Started
There are two ways to connect:
From your dashboard: Scroll to the bottom of your homepage and tap the Apple Health prompt to get started.
From Settings: Go to Settings > Apple Health and toggle the connection on.
Either way, iOS will show a Health Access screen with two sections -- data Hoot can write and data Hoot can read. We recommend turning on all toggles for the best experience, then tap Allow.
That's it. Hoot will start syncing automatically.
Not interested right now? You can dismiss the prompt from your dashboard and enable it later from Settings whenever you're ready.
What Hoot Writes to Apple Health
When you log food, water, or weight in Hoot, the following data is shared with Apple Health:
Carbohydrates
Dietary Cholesterol
Dietary Energy (calories)
Dietary Sugar
Fiber
Protein
Saturated Fat
Sodium
Total Fat
Water
Weight
This means your Hoot logs automatically show up in Apple Health alongside data from your other health apps.
What Hoot Reads from Apple Health
Hoot pulls the following data from Apple Health to give you a fuller picture of your day:
Active Energy
Resting Energy
Steps
Weight
This data can come from your iPhone, Apple Watch, or any other app connected to Apple Health. You don't need an Apple Watch for this to work.
Managing Permissions
You're always in control. You can change what Hoot can read or write at any time by going to iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Hoot.
Tips
If you use multiple health apps, Apple Health acts as the central hub -- Hoot fits right into that ecosystem.
If you previously denied permissions, you can re-enable them in iOS Settings at any time. Hoot can't see whether you denied access, so you'll need to update it from iOS Settings directly.
