Your daily plan isn't set in stone. As you lose weight, gain muscle, change your activity level, or adjust your goals, your calorie and macro targets should change too. Hoot makes it easy to recalculate your plan whenever you need to.

When Should I Recalculate?

A good rule of thumb is to recalculate your plan when:

  • You've lost or gained 5+ pounds since your last update

  • Your activity level has changed (e.g., you started a new workout routine or became less active)

  • You've changed your goal (switching from losing to maintaining, for example)

  • Your plan just doesn't feel right anymore -- too hungry, too full, or progress has stalled

Hoot will also nudge you to recalculate when you log a new weight that's significantly different from when your plan was last set.

How to Recalculate

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap Recalculate Plan.

  3. Review your current profile -- weight, goal, activity level, and pace of change. Update anything that's changed.

  4. Tap Recalculate.

  5. Hoot will generate updated calorie and macro targets based on your latest info.

That's it. Your dashboard will immediately reflect your new plan.

What Gets Updated?

When you recalculate, Hoot recalculates your:

  • Daily calorie target

  • Protein, carb, and fat targets

  • Projected timeline to reach your goal

Your existing logs, streaks, and progress history are not affected -- only your targets going forward.

Can I Still Edit Targets Manually?

Yes. Recalculating gives you a science-based starting point, but you can always fine-tune individual targets in Settings > Daily Plan. This is especially useful if you're working with a dietitian or have specific macro preferences.

How Often Should I Recalculate?

There's no set schedule, but every 5-10 pounds of change or every couple of months is a reasonable cadence. Recalculating too often (like weekly) isn't necessary and can make it harder to spot real trends.
