What to do when you receive a link and how to send one to somebody else, the cools ways in which you can manage your booking payments

This article describes who authorisation links work for HM Account holders who are processing bookings as well as the steps you need to follow when you want someone else to pay for your bookings (yes you read that right!) you can send a link to your owners or parents to pay on your behalf!

Authorisation links are a great way to:

  • secure a booking directly with an Organiser or

  • you need somebody else to pay for a booking for you (this could be one of your owners, your parents, or even a friend)

Here is all you need to know about the authorisation and payment process!

1. Authorisation links from Organisers (or third parties)

  1. Can be sent to you by an Organiser

  2. Can be sent to you by a HM account holder who wants you to authorise or pay for their bookings in an event or,

  3. Allow you to send a payment link to a third party

Authorisation links

  1. Card authorisation links come to you directly from the Organiser via email

  2. You will be asked to click a link to Authorise (please see example email below)

  • To secure the authorisation you will need a Security Code which allows the person authorising to complete the process securely

  • This security code can be supplied directly from the Organiser or you can access the details by going to Pending Bookings in your Horse Monkey account

  • Once actioned you will see the booking in your Confirmed Bookings and it status will be Pending Payment. Note: At this point the card has been provided to authorise the payment/ charge (a bit like opening a tab at a bar), not charged, so the Organiser can add, amend, remove bookings throughout the event, at the end only the outstanding running total will be charged to the card.

2. As an HM account holder you can send a Pay Now link to a 3rd party

Sometimes you may need somebody else to cover the costs, such as an owner you ride for, .

  • At the point of checkout you can select Generate Payment Link

  • Type the email address of the person you are sending the link to

  • The person making the payment needs to be given the security code

  • Note: this code will also be available in the HM account holders under Pending Links

  • Once actioned the booking will show in Confirmed Bookings as PAID


Using payment links to settling an outstanding account balance

From your Dashboard you can see all your Confirmed Bookings.

Ones showing as Pending Payment are Confirmed but not yet fully paid - the authorisation has been actioned but the payment has not yet been taken.

You can choose to complete the payment and close the booking at any point:

  • Click Pending Payment to go to the Booking Summary

  • Select one of the options to Pay Now or Generate a Payment link to forward to somebody else

  • Once actioned the status will change to PAID on the Confirmed Bookings
