Creating heavy variable data files can tie up your prepress operators’ computers so they can't do anything else.

That’s why FE Burman turned to the cloud-based HP PrintOS Composer application to create variable data print files for an exhibition to launch Sony’s new FES Watch U e-paper watch, held at the recent London Design Festival.

The Sony watch allows users to change the watch face and strap design at the press of a button. FE Burman collaborated with Sony Design, graphic artist Rob Lowe and HP to mount a giant display of 1440 unique posters – one for every second in a day.

FE Burman used HP SmartStream Mosaic to generate the 1440 images from one seed design, and HP Composer to create the variable data files for printing on an HP Indigo press.

Being able to process the job on the cloud at a speed up to 50 times faster than possible with a local computer was vital to the art installation coming together.

HP PrintOS Composer efficiently processes variable files of any size, with any number of records. Rich templates, HP SmartStream Mosaic, Spine and Edge printing, Locr maps, and MindFire Studio personalized URLs – HP PrintOS handles them all!

And you don't need to be an expert to use it.
