If you are not yet familiar with HR DataHub then we recommend reading this article first, as an introduction to using HR DataHub for the first time.

Are you ready?...

Here are our best Tips and Tricks for you...

1. Using Search History to save you time

Quickly go over previous searches, here! Your previous searches will be shown in the white/blue tabs (shown below).

Simply click on whichever search you would like to view again, and all of your search criteria will be reloaded. For the following gif walkthrough, we have selected the previous "Delivery driver" search.

This search will also include all new roles that have been uploaded since your initial search. This way we ensure you have the latest information with just one click 🧠.

2. Refine results with our 'Additional filters'

Use ‘Additional filters’ for a more refined set of results (shown below).

Here's an example

You are benchmarking the salary for a Business Analyst (BA) role in London, but you also want to know that your candidate is qualified as an Agile BA. You can use advanced search as shown below to filter the Agile BA roles.

Extra tip - If you want to search for multiple keywords at once, you simply separate each key word with a comma (,) and search!

As we see, the total results goes down from 756 roles to 253.

You will also notice that the median salary has risen from £59,000 to £60,000 and this small change has provided us with a more accurate salary benchmark.

Further advanced search

You can search for "Contains any", "Contains all" or "Contains none" to truly refine your search.

Continuing on with our Business Analyst example shown above, if we want to filter for roles specifically with "technology" in the job description, then we can add this to our advanced search, as shown below.

Our search results now drop from 253 to 129, with a drop in the median salary from £60,000 to £57,500. Again, we see a change in the median salary based on our search criteria, proving the value of including additional filters 🧠.

3. Eliminate outliers with the slide feature 🤏🏻

When looking at the salary for a specific role, you can eliminate outliers that you do not feel match your role by using the slider shown below.

Continuing on with our previous example, you are benchmarking a BA role in London, but for a small start-up. You notice some of the results have particularly high salaries. As you are a small start-up, you do not feel the high salaries are a fair representation of what you can offer. Therefore, you use the salary slider to eliminate salaries which do not fit your target range to show a more realistic salary for your role.

As the high-end of the salary slider comes down, our total job ads falls from 129 to 106, bringing the median salary down from £57,500 to £56,500.

4. See a more detailed breakdown of the data

You can hover over individual time frames within the salary graph to see the exact breakdown of total jobs vs average salary for a specific time period, as shown below.

The blue line represents the average salary for any given period, and the burgundy line displays the total number of roles posted for the same period.

Salaries rise and fall in line with changes in the economy and various other factors, and so this tool can be useful in identifying the average at a specific moment in time.

Combine this with our new Headline Insights for a clearer understanding of the data.

5. Using keyword search's superpower! 🦸‍♀️ + checking the job descriptions

You are able to read the full job description(s) for any role by clicking on individual jobs postings. This can be very useful if you find jobs that closely match the role you are offering/benchmarking.

Keyword search has a secret superpower that is incredibly useful for looking through specific job descriptions 🦹.

Any words you search for in the 'Keyword search' will be highlighted in the body of the job description for easy identification!

This tool can be particularly useful if you want to explore the other benefits/perks of similar roles to the one you are offering, to ensure you are competitive in the market.

6. Downloading the Headline Insights + charts/graphs view

When you are happy with your search, you can delete any final roles that you do not feel match your criteria by clicking on the blue X next to the specific role(s). From here you can download the headline insights + graphs + charts in one clean snapshot, as shown below.

This snapshot is great for quick sharing with colleagues or using in presentations 📸
