Enabling Goals

Goals must be enabled for your organisation in company settings before team members can use it.

To enable Goals:

  1. Go to Settings in the left-side menu.

  2. Click Objectives.

  3. Toggle the feature to Enabled.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Once enabled, all team members with the appropriate permissions can create and manage goals.

Access to Goals

For now, goals are individual, so you can create them for yourself or for other employees you have permission to manage. Access to Goals depends on the permissions a user has. To learn more, see the table below:

Creating goals

To create a goal, follow these steps:

  1. Using the dropdown menu in the top-right corner, choose which employee you would like to add a goal to, or select yourself.

  2. Click Goals in the left-side menu to open the Goals dashboard.

  3. Click Create Goal in the top-right corner.

  4. Enter a title that describes the goal.

  5. Select the year for the objective, then, if applicable, choose a quarter or half-year.

  6. Select the initial status from the list of options. This includes Not started, On track, At risk, Completed, and Cancelled.

  7. Select the percentage that matches the chosen status.
Note: Any percentile above 0 will automatically change the status from Not started to On track.

  8. Click Create goal.

Using key results

Each goal includes an option to add key results, which help you and others track progress toward achieving the goal. Key results must fall within the goal’s time period. For example, a Q3 key result cannot belong to a H1 goal.

Adding a key result

To add a key result, follow these steps:

  1. Choose the goal you want to add a key result to.

  2. Click Add key result.

  3. Enter a title that clearly describes the outcome.

  4. Select the time period you want to achieve the key result by, ensuring that it is within the period assigned to the main goal.

  5. Set the initial status of the key result.

  6. Add a percentage of progress.

  7. Click Add key result.

Note: Adding a key result to a goal will automatically change the status of the goal to On track, even if the key result is set to Not started.

Updating progress

To update the progress of a goal or key result, follow these steps:

  1. Open Goals in the left-side menu.

  2. Click the icon beside the goal or key result you want to update, followed by Edit.

  3. Make the necessary adjustments to the progress percentage.

  4. Update the status if needed.

  5. Click Save.

Progress is displayed as a visual progress bar, making it easy to see how close you are to completion at a glance.

Tracking progress of key results

As you update the progress percentage for each key result, it will contribute to the overall progress of the goal. For example, if you have two key results, and one of these is marked as 0% completed, and the other as 100% completed, the goal will display as 50% completed.

If a key result has an At risk status, this will subtract from the overall progress percentage of the goal.

Deleting goals

To delete a goal or key result, follow these steps:

  1. Open Goals in the left-side menu.

  2. Click the icon beside the goal or key result you want to delete.

  3. Click Delete.

  4. Confirm the deletion.

Note: Deleting a goal will also delete all of its key results. This action cannot be undone.
