Tables: Compensation Review

Run compensation review cycles with the specialised Compensation Review dataset in Tables.

Updated yesterday

The Compensation Review dataset in Tables provides a specialised view designed for managing compensation cycles. It includes analytical columns not available in the standard Compensations table — such as salary progression, raise amounts, tenure, and time since last update — giving you the data you need to make informed compensation decisions.

Overview

Compensation Review brings together employee, job role, working pattern, and compensation data alongside unique analytical columns. Use it to compare salaries across your organisation, identify employees overdue for a review, and plan raises as part of a compensation cycle.

To access Compensation Review:

  • In the Home menu, click Tables.

  • Select an existing Compensation Review table, or create a new one (see below).

Creating a Compensation Review view

You can create a new Compensation Review table or add a Compensation Review view to an existing table.

  • Navigate to Tables and click the + button to create a new table.

  • Select Compensation review as the dataset.

  • Give your table a name (e.g. "2026 Annual Comp Review") and click Create.

  • To add a view to an existing table, open the table and click + Add view, then select Compensation review.

Tip: Compensation Review is a planning dataset. Changes you make in this view can be reviewed and applied just like in any other table. Share compensation review views with managers or finance teams for collaborative review cycles.

  • Employment start / end — employment dates

  • Job title — the employee's current job title

  • Department — the employee's department

  • Manager — the employee's reporting manager

  • Place of work — office location

  • Contract type — e.g. full-time, part-time, contractor

Analytical columns

These columns are unique to the Compensation Review dataset and provide key insights for compensation decisions:

  • Tenure — how long the employee has been with the company, calculated from their employment start date.

  • FTE / Unrounded FTE — the employee's full-time equivalent value based on their working pattern.

  • Salary progression — a visual indicator of the employee's historical salary trend.

  • Salary raise — the raise amount or percentage applied during the current review cycle.

  • Time since last salary update — the duration since the employee's last compensation change, helping you identify those overdue for a review.

  • Last salary raise — the previous raise amount, providing context for the current cycle.

Note: Custom fields from the Employment, Job role, and Compensation sections are also available as columns. Additionally, any custom compensation types you have configured will appear with their own amount, currency, frequency, effective date, and note columns.

Using the Compensation Review view

The Compensation Review view is ideal for running structured compensation review cycles. Here are some common workflows:

  • Identify employees overdue for review — sort by Time since last salary update (descending) to surface employees who haven't had a compensation change in the longest time.

  • Compare raises — use the Last salary raise and Salary raise columns side by side to compare previous and proposed raises.

  • Filter by department or team — use filters to focus on one department at a time for a structured review process.

  • Review salary progression — check the Salary progression column for a visual overview of each employee's compensation history.

  • Plan raises — edit the salary amount directly in the table. The Salary raise column will automatically update to reflect the percentage change.

Editing data

You can make compensation changes directly in the Compensation Review view:

  • Click on any editable cell to modify its value — for example, update a salary amount to reflect a planned raise.

  • Updated fields will be highlighted in yellow.

  • Use the Review tool to see all pending changes before applying them.

  • Click Apply changes to save your updates, or Discard changes to revert.

For more details on editing data, see Editing Data.

Importing and exporting

You can import data into and export data from your Compensation Review view:

  • Import: Click the Import button to upload a CSV file with proposed compensation changes. Humaans will match rows to existing employees and highlight all changes for your review.

  • Download: Click the Download button to export your current view as a CSV file for offline analysis, sharing with leadership, or archiving completed review cycles.
