Participating in a performance review cycle

A performance review cycle follows a structured workflow consisting of selecting and approving peer nominations, completing reviews across different review types (self, manager, peer, and upward), and finally, publishing feedback. As a participant, you’ll be assigned reviews which you’ll need to complete and submit before the cycle is closed.

This guide walks you through each step of that process, including how to find your assigned tasks, complete and submit reviews, and view feedback once it's been shared with you as a cycle participant.

Selecting peer nominees

Depending on how the cycle is configured, when a performance cycle includes peer reviews, either you or your manager will nominate the reviewers. There will be a minimum and maximum number of peers that can be selected.

To select peer nominations, follow these steps:

  1. Click My tasks in the main menu on the left-side.

  2. Search for the relevant performance cycle under which you’ll see a Select peer reviewers task.

  3. Click Nominate peers.

  4. Using the dropdown menu, search for and select peer nominees.

  5. When ready, click Confirm selection.

After you confirm your peer reviewers, your manager will need to approve who you’ve picked.

Peer nomination deadlines

Peer nominations have their own deadline, separate from the review deadline. It’s the first deadline in a review cycle to give enough time for nominations to be selected and approved by managers.

Submitting a review

When a cycle is activated, as a cycle participant, you’ll be assigned tasks in the My tasks section. These tasks could include peer nominations, self reviews, upward reviews, or peer reviews.

To submit a review, follow these steps:

  1. Click My tasks in the main menu on the left-side.

  2. Search for the relevant performance cycle under which you’ll see all your assigned tasks.

  3. Click Write a review to open it.

  4. Read through and answer each question.

  5. Once you’ve provided an answer for all required fields, you can choose to submit your review by clicking Submit review. Alternatively, your work will be saved as a draft, which you can return to at a later stage.

Note: Once submitted, you cannot reopen and edit your feedback unless changes are requested by a manager or admin.

If you miss a submission deadline for a review, contact your HR or People department if you need an extension.

Different review types

  • Self review: when you provide feedback about yourself.

  • Peer review: when you provide feedback about a colleague.

  • Upward review: when you provide feedback about your manager.

Viewing your own performance feedback

To access your performance feedback, open your user profile, followed by the Performance section. It will depend on the cycle's visibility settings if and when you can access your feedback.
