Publishing performance feedback

Publishing feedback is the final step in a review cycle. It should occur after a cycle has been completed. It controls when employees and managers can see the collected feedback, and adds review packets to employee profiles.

Only users with an owner or admin role can publish feedback. You can publish feedback while a cycle is active or to complete it.

Configuring a cycle’s visibility settings

A cycle's visibility settings determine which feedback types are visible to the reviewee and their manager once published. Before completing a cycle, it’s worth double-checking the cycle’s visibility settings are correct.

To check or update visibility settings:

  1. Open the review cycle in Performance.

  2. Click the three dots icon, and click View template.

  3. Under Who can see feedback, review the checkbox table. It shows visibility per review type (self review, manager review, peer review, upward review) for both the reviewee and their manager

  4. Under Reviewees view feedback, select when reviewees can see submitted feedback:

    • Immediately after submission: reviewees see each review as soon as the reviewer submits it.

    • Once published by admin: reviewees only see feedback after you explicitly publish it.

  5. Under Managers view feedback, select the same timing option for managers.

These settings affect all participants.

Publishing feedback for multiple people

To publish feedback in bulk from the cycle overview page:

  1. Open the review cycle in Performance.

  2. Click the three dots icon, followed by Publish feedback if the cycle is active. When the cycle is completed, it appears as a prominent button.

  3. Choose whose feedback to publish:

    • All completed unpublished review packets: publishes only review packets where every reviewer has submitted their feedback. This is the default and most conservative option.

    • All unpublished review packets: publishes all remaining unpublished review packets, including those with unsubmitted reviews.

    • Custom selection: use filters (such as department, location, team, or job role) to choose specific employees.

  4. Review the list of employees and the submission progress shown for each person.

  5. If your selection includes people with unsubmitted reviews, a warning appears. To proceed, tick the checkbox: I confirm that I want to publish with unsubmitted reviews.

  6. Click Publish feedback.

  7. A confirmation message appears once the feedback has been published.

Note: Once feedback is published, any outstanding unsubmitted reviews can no longer be submitted.

Publishing feedback for one person

To publish feedback for an individual employee:

  1. Open the review cycle in Performance.

  2. Click on the employee's name to open their review packet.

  3. Click the three dots icon in the top-right corner and select Publish feedback.

  4. Click Confirm and publish feedback.

What happens after publishing

Once feedback is published:

  • Employees receive email and Slack notifications (if enabled) that their feedback is available.

  • The review packet appears in the employee's profile in Performance, with the date it was published.

  • Feedback visibility follows the cycle's visibility settings. Employees and managers only see the review types they've been granted access to.

  • Published feedback can't be unpublished.
