Humaans allows you to automatically generate employee ID numbers for your organisation. In this guide, we'll discuss how to enable/disable this feature, and how the feature functions when enabled.
Enabling/Disabling automatic employee ID's
You can enable or disable automatic employee ID generation with the following steps:
In the Home menu, click Settings, then click Company.
Under Employee ID, click Edit beside Automatically generate employee ID.
An Employee ID window will appear, which will let you decide to enable/disable the feature.
You can decide whether to have ID's generate for active members only, or to include new hires. For more, see adding new employee's to Humaans.
You can also change the number of the next Employee ID to be added.
How automatic employee generation works
This new field will be automatically populated with the next employee ID sequence number. For example, if the previous sequence ID was 125, then the next employee ID will be set to 126. Also, the system will skip any existing numbers and go to the next one. So if you already have a an employee with an ID of 250, and the sequence would have been 250, Humaans will skip 250 and suggest 251 as the next employee ID instead.
In summary:
Turning automatic employee ID generation shows the field in Add new member flow
This ID can be further edited or even removed (e.g. for contractors)
The next generated ID can always be adjusted in Settings > Company > Employee ID
The system skips any existing employee IDs
Offboarded people retain their employee IDs
