When secondary QR code pairing is enabled for an event, a user will be prompted to scan and "pair" a secondary QR code that may appear on a wristband or running bib, for example, after they have scanned a ticket using the Humanitix for Hosts app.
When scanning the secondary QR code using the Humanitix app, it will reveal the same details as the paired Humanitix ticket.
It is useful for identifying attendees by this secondary QR code without needing to see their original digital ticket.
How to enable secondary pairing
To enable secondary pairing, manage your event and navigate to the host app tab on the left-hand menu.
Select the secondary pairing tab and toggle ON to enable secondary pairing
Then select the ticket types that, when scanned, will prompt the app to scan a secondary QR code. Unselected tickets will be checked in, but won't be prompted to scan a secondary QR code.
Setting up your secondary QR codes
⚠️ Important: Secondary QR codes must contain a specific prefix.
Tickets cannot be paired with any QR code.
You must ensure the QR Code URL contains a specific prefix: "HTIX:/".
If the prefix does not exist, the QR code will not be accepted for pairing. You can have any unique identifier for your QR codes, as long as it contains the "HTIX:/" prefix.
For example, if you create a QR code with an identifier "00001", the QR code must be "HTIX:/00001".
How secondary QR code pairing works
When secondary pairing is enabled and an eligible ticket is scanned or checked in manually, the user will be prompted to scan a secondary QR code, e.g. a wristband. Once a secondary QR code has been scanned, the ticket is then "checked in" and a record of the pairing is stored in the app.
When the secondary QR code is scanned again using the app, the details of the paired ticket will appear on the screen.
App users will take the following actions:
Scan attendees' Humanitix digital ticket QR code
Scan secondary QR code
The ticket is checked in and paired to the secondary QR code
Tickets that have not been enabled for secondary pairing will be "checked in" immediately after being scanned and will not prompt the user to scan a secondary QR code.
You can view the paired QR code for a ticket by using the search tab and clicking on the attendee.
Commonly asked questions
Can a secondary QR code be paired to the same ticket multiple times? And vice-versa?
Can a secondary QR code be paired to the same ticket multiple times? And vice-versa?
No. Once a ticket has been paired with a QR code, then that same ticket cannot be paired with another QR code - nor can the same secondary QR code be paired with multiple tickets.
