In partnership with CoGo, HURR developed its Carbon Savings Calculator to quantify the environmental savings (shown as number of Trees Cut Down and equivalent Miles In A Car). The calculator compares the savings made by renting compared to the environmental costs of manufacturing those same or similar items for the first time and only wearing them once.

HURR doesn’t own the items rented through the platform and does not have access to item-specific data (including production techniques, manufacturing process, fabrics and dyes). The diversity of items across the platform of items, sizes, and styles required an application of averages approved by CoGo, to best estimate HURR’s environmental savings.

The CoGo algorithms and analysis across the HURR platform assume a displacement rate of a rented garment as opposed to buying it new and wearing it once.
