Rebooting the Hybird Edge Controller · procedure guide

Reboot methods for the Hybird Edge Controller (physical up arrow button on ICO-C Rev 1, or remote reboot via support) and what to expect afterwards.

Overview

There are several situations where rebooting the Hybird Edge Controller is the correct resolution step · for example, after adding a new device to an existing installation, or as a first-line response to a connectivity or communication fault. This article describes the available reboot methods for each controller variant.

Hybird Edge Controller ICO-CO

Outdoor weatherproof enclosure

Reboot methods

Method 1: Physical button (ICO-C, Rev 1)

On the current ICO-C controller (Rev 1), a reboot can be triggered by pressing and holding the up arrow button on the front of the controller for approximately 2 seconds. The controller will restart. The power LED will briefly extinguish and then return to solid green once the controller has booted.

Note: The button assignment and reboot procedure may change in future hardware revisions. If in doubt, contact Hybird support to confirm the procedure for your specific unit.

Method 2: Remote reboot via Hybird support

If the controller is online and reachable, Hybird support can issue a remote reboot command. Contact support at support@hybird.energy or +45 3020 4900 and provide the installation ID or controller serial number.

What to expect after a reboot

  1. The controller restarts and reconnects to the Hybird platform (typically within a minute or two, depending on network conditions).

  2. Once connected, the platform sends the controller its current configuration, including the up-to-date list of devices in the installation.

  3. The controller begins polling all registered devices immediately. Measurements will start appearing in the Hybird Portal within a few minutes · the exact time depends on the number of devices in the panel, network connectivity, and RS485/Modbus bus conditions.

RS485 and live-panel note

RS485 is low-voltage signal wiring and can be worked on with the panel live. Do not de-energise the panel · the installation is likely powering active loads. Apply standard panel-work precautions: avoid contact with AC terminals, and follow local regulations (Stærkstrømsbekendtgørelsen in Denmark, Elinstallationsreglerna in Sweden, VDE 0100 in Germany) for working inside a live distribution panel.

When to escalate

If the controller does not come back online within 5 minutes of a reboot, or if the power LED does not return to solid green, contact Hybird support at support@hybird.energy or +45 3020 4900.

Summary

The ICO-C (Rev 1) can be rebooted by holding the up arrow button for 2 seconds. Remote reboot is available via Hybird support when the controller is online. After rebooting, allow a few minutes for the controller to reconnect and for measurements to appear in the Hybird Portal.
