Note

The information below is shown for an administrator role. If you have another role in Hyperproof, like compliance manager, user, or limited access user, your access may be limited due to your organizational role and object-level permissions. We recommend viewing the organization roles and permissions article and object roles article to learn more about permissions.

You'll find many different objects and features in Hyperproof. In this video tutorial, we'll cover each tab in the left navigation menu to review these objects and features. This will help establish all the different areas accessible within Hyperproof before we start leveraging them.

The following modules were not included in the left navigation menu overview video because they are optional for purchase features in Hyperproof.

Assessments

Assessments allow you to easily review, evaluate, and improve controls and/or requirements across your organization. Some common compliance frameworks that encourage control-based assessments are NIST and SOC 2.

Hyperproof supports both control and requirement assessments. These objects can be audited for attributes such as design, language, effectiveness, and reliability. When your organization’s controls and requirements are sufficient, internal Document Request List (DRL)-based audits run much smoother because the bulk of the work is already done.

Access Reviews

Link to the access reviews workshop recording in Hyperproof Community.

An access review is a process where user access and permissions to applications used by an organization are reviewed and adjusted regularly, such as monthly, quarterly, or annually, to ensure that they are still appropriate. Access reviews are done to maintain good security practices and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information and systems.

The results of these reviews can be used as proof for many compliance standards. For example, if your employees have access to Salesforce, you may need to review each person's Salesforce access periodically to ensure they have the appropriate permissions and for your organization to be in compliance.

Using Hyperproof access reviews speeds up the process and reduces the time to completion by allowing you to do the following:

  • Add a company directory of users and their job information to help reviewers assess each person's access.

  • Add user access lists for multiple applications including role, permission levels, and last login.

  • Generate a matrix of user access per application with each user account matched to a person in the company directory.

  • Split the access review matrix into tasks assigned to reviewers.

  • Collate adjustments requested by the reviewers into tasks for each application owner.

  • Generate proof for an audit.

Upper-right navigation

Now that we've gone through the main navigation area, let's discuss the upper-right corner of Hyperproof. In this video tutorial, we walk through the different icons in the upper-right corner. You will find the 'Need help?' button, the question mark icon, the organization switcher, and your profile here.
