Introduction to freshness
Freshness is a status set on a control or label that indicates whether an activity was last performed within the time frame assigned for that particular control or label. If a control or label is fresh, it’s healthy. When you turn on freshness, you define its expiration period at the end of which its freshness status will automatically change from Fresh to Expired.
In this video tutorial, we'll navigate to the explore by panel and apply freshness policies to our controls and labels within Hyperproof. We'll also mark any expired controls or labels to fresh as of today.
The tutorial below is shown in the administrator role with organizational permission as a manager in Hyperproof. If you are in another role in Hyperproof or have a different permission, you may not have access to some of these areas shown, or they may be greyed out.

Turning on freshness
Turning on freshness
First, you must turn on freshness tracking for the control or label, and then define its freshness policy.
From the left menu, select Controls or Labels.
Select the control or label for which you want to turn on freshness.
Do one of the following:
If you selected a control, select the ... (More options) tab, and then click Freshness.
If you selected a label, click the empty space below the Freshness column.
The Freshness window opens.
Select On.
Enter the following:
Below When marked fresh, the proof expires in..., set the expiration period.
Below Starts as, select the initial status.
Below Fresh as of, set the start date of the expiration period. The start date can be today or in the past, depending on your organization’s needs.
Click Save.
Now that freshness has been set:
The freshness status is displayed next to the name of the control or label.
The control's or label's Proof tab has a Mark fresh button that allows you to change the status.
Various dashboards and item lists throughout the app now reflect the freshness status of the control or label.
We recommend doing this in a sandbox environment first for testing.
Explore By and work needs attention panel
The Explore by panel allows you to view program snapshots based on the following filters:
Scopes (this is an additional purchase in Hyperproof)
Members
Domains
For example, you might want to assess a particular member’s activity level. To do so, select the checkbox next to that member. Once the checkbox is selected, you’ll see the snapshots update.
At the bottom of the explore by panel, you'll also find the Work/Needs attention panel. This helpful area shows the controls and labels whose freshness status is expired or about to expire.
Controls or labels are hyperlinked to access them from the panel easily. Click the link or links to navigate directly to an item.
Note, if you click the gear icon in the explore by panel you can customize the option to filter the program dashboard.
Filtering and editing the Explore By panel
The Explore By panel allows you to filter out your program dashboard by different items like domain, member, etc. Along with the Explore By panel, we'll also discuss the Work/Needs Attention section. This area can be found below the Explore By panel & shows upcoming freshness policies you set on your controls or labels.
In this video tutorial below, we'll discuss how to filter and edit/work within the Explore By panel.
