Risk Register Dashboard

The Risk Dashboard is referred to as the Risk Register in Hyperproof. The Risk Register conveniently organizes risk information - such as risk health - in a user-friendly dashboard.

Risk register dashboard

Depending on the size of your organization, you might manage multiple compliance frameworks, each with a considerable amount of risks. All of these risks have data associated with them such as the description of the risk, the date the risk was identified, the individual who identified it, where the risk came from, and the consequences of the risk if it's not addressed.

The Risk Register captures all of this data and more in one location. Hyperproof's Risk Register offers different snapshots of your risk data so that you can easily determine which risks need to be dealt with immediately.

Note

The risk module has been updated in Hyperproof. You can now create multiple risk registers, each with its own dashboard. In the video tutorial below, you'll see us click into one risk register and walk through the dashboard on that register.

The tutorial below is shown in the administrator role with organizational permission as a manager in Hyperproof. If you are in another role in Hyperproof or have a different permission, you may not have access to some of these areas shown, or they may be greyed out.

Risk Summary

This snapshot shows:

  • Your organization’s total number of risks

  • The number of Healthy, At Risk, and Critical risks

  • The status of the average Inherent Risk, Risk Tolerance, and Actual Risk

Residual Risk

The Residual risk is the amount of risk remaining once a mitigating control (or multiple mitigating controls) have been applied. This amount is automatically calculated based on existing inputs, including the level of Inherent risk, the mitigation factor of any controls you linked to the risk, and the health status of linked controls.

Here is a breakdown of how Hyperproof determines the risk amount, click the arrows to learn more:

Healthy

If a control is Healthy, 100% of the mitigation factor is attributed to the risk.

At risk

If a control is At risk, 50% of the mitigation factor is attributed to the risk.

Critical

If a control is Critical, 0% of the mitigation factor is attributed to the risk.

If the total of all mitigation factors of linked controls is 100%, and all controls are Healthy, the Actual risk will be very low.

If the sum of all mitigation factors of linked controls is 0%, or all linked controls are Critical, the Actual risk will be the same as the Inherent risk.

Response

This snapshot displays how your organization chooses to address the risks.

Click each arrow below to learn more about the response statuses:

Transfer

Risks that have been turned over to another party

Accept

Risks that have been accepted because their repercussions aren't considerable

Avoid

Risks that are intended to be averted; no controls are put in place

Mitigate

Risks with controls to avoid adverse repercussions

Risk Health

Based on your total number of risks, this snapshot provides an overview of whether the Actual risk meets, remains below, or exceeds your Risk tolerance.

Click each arrow below to learn more about the risk health statuses:

Healthy

If the Actual risk is equal to or below the Risk tolerance, the risk is Healthy.

At risk

If either the Actual risk or the Risk tolerance is not set, the risk is At risk.

Critical

If the Actual risk is above the Risk tolerance, the risk is Critical.

Controls

This widget displays the number of controls, by status, that are linked to risks.

The numbers are clickable links. When you click a link, you can view a list of the controls associated with that particular status. Clicking a control ID takes you to an overview of the control.

Risk Heatmap

This snapshot shows a graphical representation of your risks. The Likelihood and Impact are mapped to an Inherent risk value.

Explore By panel

The explore by panel can be found on the dashboard within a specific risk register. This area lets you filter by category, response, owner, or a custom field.

For example, you might want to review the owners of each risk. To do so, select the checkbox next to that owner. Once the checkbox is selected, you’ll see the snapshots update.

Note, you have the option to control the settings of the explore by panel. You can turn on and off sections, including ones you make, like custom fields.

Click the arrow below to learn more:
