Introduction
The Chart Page in the GeoSens Monitoring System is designed to visualize sensor data in real time through interactive graphs. The page is designed to help you quickly identify trends and anomalies, ensuring efficient monitoring and data-driven decision-making with flexible filtering options based on instruments and station groups.
To access this page: Click on the top left corner to open the side bar, click on ‘Charts’ tab to access the page.
The sections on this page are briefly described in the table below:
Section Name | Functions |
Instrument Section | Select one or multiple instruments in this panel and set the plotting setting (over a certain period of time / specific number of records) to be plotted in the charts section and display data in the data table. |
Station-Group Section | Select one station-group in this panel and set the plotting setting (over a certain period of time / specific number of records) to be plotted in the charts section and display data in the data table. |
Charts | Display the plots of instrument(s) data. |
Data Table | Display the data details of instrument(s). |
Section 1 - Instrument Section
This section allows users to select and filter specific instruments to display on the chart.
1) Select instrument(s) to be plotted
Category and Instrument Type Dropdowns: Use these dropdowns to filter instruments by category (e.g., displacement sensors) and instrument type.
Search Box: Type the name or identifier of an instrument to locate it quickly.
Instrument List: A scrollable list of all available instruments. Check the boxes beside each instrument to select or deselect them.
Select All Option: Quickly select or deselect all instruments.
2) Plot the data
The chart visualizes metrics such as Lateral Displacement (mm) vs Time and Vertical Displacement (mm) vs Time, depending on the selected parameters.
Chart Option / Plot Type: Different plot types can be selected from the drop-down list. The options will vary based on different instrument data types, such as Lateral Displacement (mm) vs Time or Vertical Displacement (mm) vs Time.
From Date-Time and To Date-Time: Specify a specific time range for the chart data to be plotted if needed.
Last num of Hours: Enter to filter data by the most recent number of hours.
Last num of Records: Enter to filter data by the most recent number of records.
Plot Button: Click the "Plot" button to apply your filters and update the chart.
Example: Select "10-2895-GL" from the list to view data for this specific instrument on the chart. Set the plot type to be 'Vertical Displacement (mm) vs. Time'. After clicking on the 'Plot' button, the data is plotted in the charts section, and the data is display in the data table.
3) Pin function
Pin Function: Click on ‘’ pin map options to pin the selected instruments on map view, check location and other basic information.
Pin Status: Click 'Pin Status' to open the map and view the status of the selected instrument - if an instrument has triggered an alarm, the instrument will flash in the circle in the flash color of the alarm trigger.
Pin Instrument: Click on ‘Pin Instrument’ to open the map, locate, and show the selected instruments only.
Section 2 - Station Group Section
This section provides options to filter the data based on station groups, allowing for group-level visualization of instrument data.
1) Select station-group to be plotted
Category and Station Type Dropdowns: Filter station groups by category (e.g., tunnel monitoring stations) and type.
Search Box: Enter station group names or identifiers to find a specific group.
Station List: Scrollable list of station groups. Select specific stations by checking their boxes.
Select All Option: Check or uncheck all station groups at once.
Example: Select stations "ACV_02-1 TUN M8 Westbound CH7880 Z1 (LD-VD)" to display their data on the chart.
2) Plot the data
Chart Option / Plot Type: Different plot types can be selected from the drop-down list. The options will vary based on different instrument data types, such as Lateral Displacement (mm) vs Time or Vertical Displacement (mm) vs Time.
From Date-Time and To Date-Time: allow you to specify a specific time range for the chart data to be plotted.
Last num of Hours: Enter to filter data by the most recent number of hours.
Last num of Records: Enter to filter data by the most recent number of records.
Plot Button: Click the "Plot" button to apply your filters and update the chart.
Click on the ‘Plot Station’ to plot the chart graph of the selected Station-Group;
Click on the Plot option to plot only the selected/ticked Instruments in the selected list box.
3) Pin function
Pin Status: Click on the 'Pin' icon, click on 'Pin Status' to open the map and view the status of the selected instrument - if an instrument has triggered an alarm, the instrument will flash in the circle in the flash color of the alarm trigger.
Pin Instrument: Click on the 'Pin' icon, click on the ‘Pin Instrument’ to open the map and show the selected instruments on the map only
Section 3 - Chart Display
This section shows a panel where filtered instrument and station group data are plotted over time.
1) Chart Overview:
The chart visualizes metrics such as Lateral Displacement (mm) vs Time and Vertical Displacement (mm) vs Time, depending on the selected parameters as instructed in Section 1 by instruments and Section 2 by station-groups of this manual.
Color-Coded Lines: Each line represents data from a specific instrument or station group. A legend below the chart shows which color corresponds to which data source.
Hovering over the chart will give you specific data points for the selected time.
2) Chart Tools:
Zoom in/out Function:
Position the mouse cursor at a location of the chart area, and then slide the mouse wheel to zoom in/out the graph.
Position the mouse cursor at a location of the chart area and draw a rectangular box in the chart to zoom in the area in details.
Reset Scale: Resets the chart to its default scale.
Hide Legend: Toggle the legend visibility.
How to turn on/off data set visibility: Click on items in the legend to show/hide its data series.
Exporting/Printing Icon: Allows users to directly sends the current chart to a connected printer, and as well having an option to save the chart in a PNG, JPEG, PDF or SVG file type.
Section 4 - Data Table
This section provides a detailed tabular view of the data points displayed on the chart, with various metrics listed in rows and columns.
1) Viewing, Sorting, Filtering:
Data Tabs: Click on different Instrument Name Tabs to switch data tables between different instruments.
Sorting: Click on Sort Function ‘
’ in each column header to reorder the sequence of data records. Cascading sorting can be done by selecting multiple column headers with the Shift key held.
Re-order Data Column: Drag and drop a column to re-order data columns horizontally.
Filter: Click on Filter in the column header to select a certain range of data to be displayed.
Advanced Filter: Click on Create Filter ‘
’ at the bottom to setup various conditions to search a particular range of data to be displayed.
Example 1: To filter out the readings recorded between time period 1st Nov 2024 and 1st Dec 2024.
Example 2: To filter out all the readings with lateral displacement larger than 8mm.
