Tutorial 1 - Introduction to ToBe Builder and Basic Navigation

Opening ToBe Builder

  1. Download Zip Folder

  2. Unzip ToBe Builder

  3. Open ToBe Builder

Creating A ToBe Project

  1. Log into ToBe Builder

  2. Click Continue

  3. Click on the "Create" Tab

  4. Enter a Project Name such as "{Your Name} - TTB Tutorial"

  5. Enter either;

    1. An Address of the location of the project

    2. The Latitude and Longitude for your Project

  6. Leave the Grid Offset to X - 0, Y - 0, Z - 0

  7. Click Create

Project Scene and layouts

Tobe Builder feature a Window system that allows you to customize your layouts. To Change layouts

  1. Click the Layouts dropdown on the top right.

  2. Click a saved layout option.

    1. For this tutorial select BIM Linking

The ToBe Builder Project Scene contains two main sections. The Left Column and the Top Row. The left menu contains the feature windows available in your version of ToBe Builder. These include the following list.

  1. Open a feature window that is not open yet.

  2. Click the label of the top bar of the new window and drag it around the project scene to dock it.

  3. Click the Layouts dropdown on the top right.

  4. Scroll down the dropdown and save the new layout.

  5. Now you can return to that layout when you wish to.

The Top Menu contains Project and application settings. The left side contains project > schedule > task > date breadcrumbs with the right containing. Undo and Redo Buttons > Report Bug Button > User Preferences > Application Settings > Exit and Reload Menu.

The Scene Window

The Scene view is the main 3D space within ToBe Builder. It contains a number of different items that affect the scene and how you interact with items in the 3D Scene.

Move, Rotate and Select:

Navigating and interacting in 3D Space

Navigation in Viewport

  1. Mouse Movement

    1. Pan - Left Click.

    2. Rotate - Right Click.

  2. Zoom

    1. Scroll wheel.

  3. WASDEQ Keys

    1. Pan Camera - Forward, Left, Backward, Right, Up, Down

  4. Selecting buttons

    1. Toggle/Open/Select - Left Click.

  5. Orbit Mode

    1. Set Orbit Point - Middle Click

    2. Pan - Middle Click

    3. Orbit Around Point - Alt + Middle Click

Navigating through Interaction

  1. Select either the Person or Car Interactive Model.

  2. Place the node where you wish to start.

  3. Follow Controls in Top Right Corner.

  4. Hit ESC on the keyboard to leave interactive mode.
