Clipping and trimming are similar features with very different purposes, and this article details the benefits of each, as well as steps to execute. Click one of the options below to get more detail!

Clipping

Clipping allows you to view the results from a segment of an experience at the same level of detail you see the full experience. Clipping is like the child section of the original or parent experience from which you can zoom in on that section of data and compare it with other clips or experiences. You can clip both live and pre-recorded experiences.

How to Clip a Live or Pre-recorded Experience

  1. After clicking on the same scissor icon for trimming, you can click and drag your mouse over the desired time frame on the immersion graph.

  2. Once you highlight the time frame you wish to clip, you will be prompted to save your clip and name it. Boom, you have a new clip!

**Note: A new clip will create a whole new 'experience view,' still tied to the parent experience.

What Now?

  • Well, now you can compare clips you made to other clips in the same experience, or to other experiences you have created. By comparing immersion scores, you can determine which videos are more captivating for your audience, and which ones may not make the cut. This is especially helpful when you have multiple similar clips or experiences you would like to compare to determine which one reigns supreme. For example, if you would like to compare the same training delivered to two different groups of people on two different days, simply use the clip tool to compare similar parts of the experience, or compare the two experiences entirely with our compare feature.

Trimming

Trimming removes data completely from the experience. The data you select will be saved, and the data NOT selected is gone forever. When trimming live experiences you can remove unwanted moments from the beginning or end of the experience. For example, you can remove the first few minutes of set-up before an experience actually started.

The trimming function only works for live experiences, NOT pre-recorded, because the video is the focus of the experience and all data attached to it is important. For a closer look at the data in a pre-recorded experience, you will want to use the clipping function.

How to Trim a Live Experience

  1. Under the Second-by-Second tab of the original experience, you will find a scissor icon where you can create clips or trim the parent experience. After clicking the scissor icon, you can click and drag your mouse over the desired time frame on the immersion graph.

  2. The time frame you highlight over will be the data you want to keep. The rest will be deleted. Once you highlight the time frame you wish to keep, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the button 'Trim Experience.'

  3. A pop-up will appear, reminding you again of what will be trimmed, and confirming if you wish to continue. Once you click 'Yes', then boom, you have trimmed your experience!
