Industry Norms Overview

Why is my experience compared to an 'industry norm' ... and what is that?!

Our norms are established from thousands of Immersion measurements conducted on live experiences and content (advertisements, live events, training, education, movies, music, television, shopping experiences, etc.) with data collected from hundreds of thousands of individuals.

We include them in the 'Report Card Tab' with your results so that you can see how your scores measure up next to a reference score for the measurement category you selected in the measurement setup. Think of it as seeing if you did better than the average on a test. Strive to be like that person that scores so high they ruin the curve for everyone else! Were we competitive in school??? Nah....not at all!

The overall average immersion and safety scores for all the experiences and content ever measured with Immersion is 50 – meaning, you want to strive for a score higher than this in most cases!

What's really cool is a higher immersion score means your audience is more emotionally and attentively engaged with your content, and more likely to engage in meaningful future behaviors. Bonus, they're also more likely to retain information shared when Immersion is higher! A higher safety score also means they're more comfortable, confident, and ready to engage - meaning the experience will be more impactful!!

In sum, the industry norms serve as great apples-to-apples comparison points - using these as a point of reference will tell you how your content or experience is stacking up against similar content (potentially designed by competitors!!) in your industry.
