Creating a Reel

How do you create a pre-recorded content experience with several sequential videos?

Reels are a way to send multiple "Pre-Recorded Experiences" (e.g. an Ad, Trailer, Video, or Song) to a set of participants. So, if you want to send 30 people a series of 5 ads to watch in a row, this will make it easy for you to do so–Reels will aggregate the results back to the individual "Experience" or piece of content.

We've also thrown in some small helpful features to make your measurements more accurate. For instance, we auto-randomize the order of the Experiences you put into the Reel (Fun fact: the order of stimuli can affect immersion!). We also add a small 5-second break between each Experience to help reset your participants' brain state to ensure you are getting objective readings.

Let's get right to it! To start, follow the steps below:

1. Create Each Experience

  • Each individual video that you would like to compile into a Reel must be incorporated into its own separate Experience.

  • To create each experience, click the blue “Measure New Experience” button on the top right of the "My Experiences" page.

  • Then, create a Pre-recorded content Experience with a video you’d like to include in the Reel. Be sure to launch each experience “Live”.

  • Repeat this process for each individual video you’d like to include in the Reel!

A few things to note:

  • The start and end time of the Experience viewing window doesn't matter.

  • Don't invite Participants to the Experience.

  • Be sure to take the Experience "live".

  • If you are uploading a video file vs. using a link, you will need to give us time to process the video before you can add the Experience to a Reel.

2. Create the Reel

Once all your Experiences have been created and all videos fully processed, you are ready to put them all together in a Reel.

  • Go to the “Experience Dashboard” (located at the column on the left-hand side).

  • Then, select the Experiences you want to add to the Reel by checking the boxes to the left of each Experience name.

    • Note: If any videos are not yet processed, the interface will notify you when you try to add the Experience to a Reel.

  • When all of your appropriate experiences are selected, click “Create Reel” on the bottom left of the screen.

3. Confirm the Reel and Determine the Time Window

  • Give your participants a time window during which they need to watch the Reel. They will watch all the videos in a row in one sitting.

    • You can adjust this window at any time.

4. Invite your participants via email / link

  • You can invite your participants by sending them an email through the Immersion platform OR by sending them a public link to access the Reel.

  • You can also invite additional participants at any time.

If you're still confused, don't worry! Here's a video to walk you through each step:

5. Ta-da, your Reel is ready to go! Watch as your results come in!

  • Your results will populate in each Experience (or each individual video), NOT the Reel on the Experience Dashboard.

  • To adjust the time window or to manage participants, you can do so directly in the “Reels” section.

Note: You can only adjust the time window if the Reel is "In Progress". If it's already been marked "Completed", you won't be able to make any further changes. However, you can still manage participants.
