Pairing a video to a completed Live Experience is hugely beneficial in that it provides visual context to what was influencing Immersion at the time of data collection. More context means deeper insight and enables you as the Immersion producer to make more informed decisions around content and experience optimization.

When uploading video content, the video will automatically align to the very start of the experience. Therefore, making sure your video and experience are correctly aligned to the same Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) will be very important.

Best Practices

To make things easy, we have a few best practices to share on how to best align your data to your video!

  • Schedule your Live Experience to start a few minutes before you start video recording. By starting data collection ahead of the video, you can quickly and easily trim off the first few minutes of the experience to align with the exact start time of the video. More on this below!

  • When recording your video, be sure to capture the Coordinated Universal Time on camera.

    • Screen Recoding: If you are doing a screen record, this may mean starting the video recording with the UTC clock up on the screen.

    • In-Person Recording: If you are recording a live event in person, this may look like pointing the camera at a UTC clock on your phone.

Note: It is import to capture the time down to the second if you want an exact alignment and accurate insight!

Step-by-Step Data Alignment

UTC Alignment

  1. From the Immersion dashboard, open your completed experience

  2. Export the second-by-second data as a .xlsx file

  3. Note the exact start time of the experience in Coordinated Universal Time, located in column A

  4. Reference your video to find the exact start time of the video in Coordinated Universal Time

  5. Find and highlight the time stamp in your excel sheet that matches the exact start time of your video

  6. Create a column in your excel sheet to the right of column A (UTC stamps) and starting with 0, number the cells down to the last row in the experience.

  7. Locate your highlighted cell that marked the start of the video and reference the cell directly to the right in column B to identify the number of seconds into the experience that your video started.

  8. Convert seconds to HH:MM:SS

Trimming your Live Experience

  1. Return to the completed experience in the Immersion platform

  2. Navigate to the Second-by-Second tab

  3. Click the clipping tool

  4. In the start time field, enter your time stamp from step 8 above

  5. Set the end time to the full length of the experience

  6. Click "Trim Experience"

Note: Trimming cannot be undone so make sure you are only trimming unwanted data. If you want to save the original experience, you can always duplicate the experience from your dashboard before making any changes

Video Upload

  1. Navigate to the Report Card tab

  2. Click "Add a Video"

  3. Upload or Link your video from Youtube or Vimeo

  4. Click "Save"

Note: Our platform only supports the upload of small video files. For larger video files, we recommend uploading to Youtube or Vimeo as unlisted and adding the link (links cannot be password protected).

πŸŽ‰ All set! You now have an uploaded video that is aligned exactly to your data!

Note: Videos cannot be deleted from the experience once that have been uploaded. However, they can be overwritten by a new video upload.
