Preparing for The Event
Computer & Webcam
A computer with a webcam is essential when presenting at a ImpactClub® Virtual event. The webcam allows our members to see you as if they were watching you in-person. This also allows us to add an extra element to your speaker video which is being recorded during the duration of the event.
Presentation Location
Choosing the location where you will give your presentation is important. It should be a quiet location with no distractions, noises, or anything that can interrupt. You should also keep in mind that this location should also have fast internet and allow you to be hardwired in.
Reliable Internet Connection
This is probably the most important thing you need on the night of the event. Reliable and fast internet. In order to achieve this you will need to be connected to the internet via Ethernet. In other words, you will need to be hardwired in.
Wireless connections may work, but you risk being cut off, interrupted, and the audio and video quality will suffer. All of these things result in the members not being able to hear your entire story.
Updated & Most Current Computer Software
Whether you have a MAC or PC you will want to make sure you have the most current and up-to-date software installed on your computer. Not having the most current and up-to-date software installed can prevent your applications (such as Google Chrome and Zoom) from operating correctly. You should be able to find your updates in the settings and or system preferences on your computer. If your software is not up-to-date you will want to install the update before downloading Google Chrome or the Zoom application to your computer.
Google Chrome Internet Browser
For the ImpactClub® Virtual event you will need to download the Google Chrome browser. This browser works best with the Zoom platform and with less limitations and technical issues. You can download Google Chrome here.
Zoom Webinar/Online Conferencing
Zoom is a video conferencing platform we use to execute our ImpactClub® Virtual events. You will need to download the application to your computer in order to join the calls. Here is where you will find the instructions on how to do so. We suggest downloading the application prior to the day of the test run, however, if you are unable to do so you will be prompted to download the application the first time you click on the invite link.
Headphones or Earbuds
Headphones or earbuds are a required to prevent echoing. Your headphones or earbuds should be simple headphones, no bluetooth, no wireless audio systems — just plain old headphones with a jack. Because they will not be wireless, you will want to make sure you do not wear earrings, necklaces or anything dangly on the night of the event. Jewelry of that sort will often tangle in the headphone cords causing issues with the audio.
What to Wear
ImpactClub® T-shirt
Once a charity has been officially confirmed we mail an ImpactClub® t-shirt to the confirmed speaker. The t-shirt is sent from our fulfillment center to the address specified (by the speaker) on the speaker info sheet. This is the shirt the speaker will need to wear on the night of the event.
A tracking number and delivery details will be sent to you by our internal team once we have received them.
What not to wear:
Below are things you should not wear the night of the event. These types of items and clothing tend to brush against the mic and will distort your audio. It is important to us that your audio is good so your update and impact are portrayed correctly in the videos.
Collared shirts
Necklaces or large jewelry
Dangling bracelets and or jewelry
A t-shirt that is not your ImpactClub® shirt
