Importing of Clients

The Import Clients feature allows you to bulk import multiple clients into the platform using a CSV file. This saves time compared to adding clients individually, especially when onboarding a large number of clients at once.

Note: This is a premium feature. You'll need an active subscription to access bulk client importing.

Accessing the Import Feature

  1. Navigate to Settings from the main menu

  2. Select Import from the left sidebar

Downloading the Example File

Before importing clients, we recommend downloading the sample CSV file to ensure your data is formatted correctly.

  1. Click the Download example button

  2. A file named client_import_sample.csv will be downloaded to your computer

  3. Open this file in a spreadsheet application (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.) to see the required columns and format

The sample file contains:

  • All required column headers

  • Example data showing the correct format for each field

Preparing Your CSV File

When preparing your import file:

  1. Use the downloaded sample file as a template

  2. Keep the column headers exactly as they appear in the sample file

  3. Fill in your client data in the rows below the headers

  4. Save the file in CSV format (.csv)

Tips for Successful Imports

  • Use CSV format only – The system only accepts .csv files. If you're using Excel, choose "Save As" and select "CSV" as the file type

  • Keep column headers unchanged – The system uses the headers to identify which data goes into which field

  • Check for special characters – Ensure names and addresses don't contain characters that might cause parsing issues

  • Remove blank rows – Delete any empty rows at the end of your file

  • Verify data before importing – Double-check that all required fields are filled in correctly

Importing Your Clients

  1. Click on the file upload area or drag and drop your CSV file

  2. The system will validate that you've selected a valid CSV file

  3. Click the Import Clients button

  4. Wait for the import to complete – you'll see a success message when finished

After Importing

Once your clients are imported:

  • They will appear in your Clients list

  • You can review each client's profile to verify the information was imported correctly

  • You can edit any client details that need adjustment

Troubleshooting

Issue

Solution

"Please select a valid CSV file"

Ensure your file has a .csv extension and is saved in CSV format

Import fails with errors

Check that your column headers match the sample file exactly

Missing data after import

Verify that all required fields were filled in your CSV file

Special characters displaying incorrectly

Save your CSV with UTF-8 encoding

Tips

  • Start with a small test import (5-10 clients) to verify your file format is correct before importing your full client list

  • Keep a backup of your CSV file in case you need to reference or re-import

  • If you encounter repeated errors, compare your file column-by-column with the sample file to identify formatting differences
